Amy E. Powell (any pronouns) is a Chicago-based producer, director, and screenwriter whose multi-hyphenate background shapes a distinctive approach to the production process. As a producer, her films have screened at major festivals worldwide, including Sundance premieres for Desire Lines (NEXT Special Jury Award) and Debaters, with additional selections at Cinequest, Chicago International Film Festival, Palm Springs International, LA Shorts International, and more. She frequently collaborates with other multi-hyphenate artists, producing projects with acclaimed theater companies Teatro Vista (Hair, Jumps) and Lookingglass Theatre (Sunset 1919).
As a director, her work includes Bare Naked Truths (Best Web Series, Midwest Weirdfest) and Office Rivals (Best of Fest, Ha Ha Harvest Festival). She was a top 50 short screenplay finalist at Cinequeset and a 2025 Scriptation Showcase sem-finalist for the adapted screenplay of Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol.
Amy trained as an actor at Northern Illinois University and the Moscow Art Theatre School before transitioning behind the camera. Her voice can also be heard on the DnD podcast Roll For It.
