Tribeca Finishes with a Bang
What began as a dream premiere quickly turned into something even bigger.
Dirty Towel’s world premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Festival far surpassed every expectation. Over the course of the 10-day festival, the film screened four times to sold-out audiences, with an additional screening added due to overwhelming demand. The “Get Comfortable” block, which featured bold, intimate, and deeply honest storytelling, became one of the most talked-about and well-attended programs of the festival.
From packed theaters to post-screening conversations that spilled into the streets of New York, the response was electric. Audiences connected powerfully with the film’s vulnerability, and the team found themselves in meaningful conversations with fellow filmmakers, industry leaders, and viewers who shared their own personal reflections. The festival experience wasn’t just about screenings, it was about community. Over those ten days, the team built lasting relationships, forged exciting creative connections, and fully immersed themselves in the spirit of independent cinema.
And in true Tribeca fashion, there were unforgettable moments off-screen as well, including taking home first place in the Filmmakers Soccer Tournament.
For the team, however, the most meaningful part of the experience was sharing it together. Lead actress, co-writer, and producer Emma Parks reflected, “Truly, one of the most special parts of the festival was getting to experience it with my team. Exploring the festival alongside seven of the most talented women I’ve ever worked with was a gift — and to know it was for a story as personal as Dirty Towel is something I’ll always be grateful for.”
What Dirty Towel found at Tribeca was more than a premiere, it found its audience, its community, and a moment none of them will ever forget. The relationships built and the memories made during those ten extraordinary days are things the team will carry with them for a lifetime.
